VENICE
Venice is a world of beauty and story.
I got to know it best
on the fishermen’s side of town.
Catching pieces of sunlight on fabric
Hung on a wash line
Stretched across narrow streets.
Light on the water reflected
On curved stone bridges
That arched over boats tied to the quay.
Inside St. Marks, dark as night
Yet aglow with gold reliquaries
Splintering back candlelight from within.
We lost each other on St. Mark’s Square.
The fault was mine as I
Was staring too long at Mosaic designs
And the stained-glass mysteries inside.
I searched the square for your face.
The multitudes and hordes,
Children and tourists, saints and sinners.
I walked around the covered colonnades.
I searched the back alleyways.
Lost on streets full
Of carnival masks and Jesters, laughing at my loss.
We found each other in the rain.
When everyone ran for cover.
The whole square was bare.
Except for the two of us, laughing in the center.
FINDING WINGS
Nature and Life are the catalysts for inspired narrative poems of people, memory, and incantation. In her first collection spanning several decades, the work reflects the daily magic of the ordinary. Moraczewski discusses her transition from painting to poetry: “Words found their way in a rhythm with the waves, something new that couldn’t be captured with painted color. There is something in the timeless nature of poetry, it links memory with the present and the unsung future of possibility.” Moraczewski’s ongoing fascination with the universe, math, and music informs innumerable conversations. Hopefully, others may find joy and humor evident in these reflections. Resonance with the universal Christian philosophy enlightens her writing journey.
A CREATION STORY

The author begins, “In the Beginning… and goes on to explore complex notions of the Flood, the Tree of Life and Wisdom using visual imagery. In other words, the Wisdom of the universal thread that unites all, told in sumptuous color. The author’s background in Judeo-Christian mysticism along with the study of the Edgar Cayce material informs the Story.
